City Park Wedding | Colette + Alex

Colette and Alex’s classic New Orleans wedding was so enjoyable to photograph. I really got to know Colette and Alex over the past year through emails and their engagement session. It was like seeing old friends when I arrived to their wedding. Popp fountain was an incredible backdrop for their portraits and ceremony.

Describe your wedding day in three words
Romantic, Fun, Loved

Color palette
White, Dusty Rose, with some Berry tones for a little drama.

How did you two meet?
We have been together for almost 11 years now so the details of when we met are fuzzy! There is a possibility we were in the same first communion class haha. However, we know we were both at the same party for New Years Eve 2007, but we don’t really remember meeting until probably the summer of 2008. I remember coming home from summer camp and there were all of these guys I had never seen before with our friend group. Alex was one of them. A mutual  friend orchestrated us going to our respective Homecomings together in October of 2008 and by Mardi Gras 2009 we were dating.

How did he propose?
Alex proposed on a bridge in City Park on June 23rd 2018. He tried very hard to keep it a surprise but I was very suspicious. To be honest we both have a hard time keeping surprises from each other!  After he proposed we went to my Aunt and Uncles house where all of our friends and family were waiting. What did surprise me were the number of out of town friends and family that came in to celebrate with us. I was overwhelmed with love but in the best way.

What are your most memorable moments from your wedding day?
Colette: Definitely the getting ready process with all of my bridesmaids. We had a late 90s/early 2000s pop playlist going, and were singing and dancing the entire day. It helped me feel more relaxed going into the wedding.
Alex: Watching you walk down the aisle, you crying during the ceremony, and our first dance.
Both of us felt like the ceremony was probably the most memorable moment from the day. It felt like time stood still when we were up there. Although there were a lot of people watching, it felt like just the two of us were there. Getting to finally hit the dance floor and the second line!! We couldn’t believe how many people were still there at the end of the night! It was a great way to end our night!

Where did your guests travel from to attend your special day?
We had guests travel from all over the country including New York, Boston, Oregon, Denver, Florida, and Michigan to name a few. We also had family come in from Austria to celebrate with us.
