Il Mercato Wedding | Sarah + Joseph

If I had to describe Sarah and Joseph, along with their wedding day, in three words, they would be Classy. Elegant. Timeless. Everything about them and their wedding day was breathtakingly gorgeous and effortless. Sarah got ready in her childhood room, which is always incredibly sentimental and sweet. Working alongside Blue Gardenia Events was a treat. They style everything to perfection. Sarah and Joseph’s ceremony was stunning, and Il Mercato is always the best backdrop for any reception. I was honored to be a part of their wedding day.

How did you and Joe meet?
Joe and I both went to Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York and lived in the same dorm freshman year.  We had all the same friends throughout college, but it took us a while to really notice one another.  We began dating senior year and, for our friends’ sake, crossed our fingers it would last.  We couldn’t be happier that it did and loved having all of our friends at the wedding to celebrate.

How did he propose?
After spending the summer apart for work, Joe and I planned a trip to Europe in August before I started by final year of law school.  I suspected he might propose on our vacation, but he surprised me by popping the question the night before we left!  It took the pressure off the trip and we got to celebrate our engagement in France and Switzerland.

Most memorable moment from your wedding day?
The second line from our ceremony at St. Mary’s Assumption to our reception at Il Mercato was incredible!  We had so much fun and it was a hit with our guests, especially those who came in from out of town.

Where did your guests travel from to attend your special day?
Our guests came in from all over the country and as far as London.  New York, California, and Texas had the biggest turn outs.
