Describe your wedding in three words or less
Timeless, elegant and joyful
Classic & natural – white, cream, and green florals
How did you two meet?
We met very briefly through my older sister, Sarah, as her and Jono are the same age, as well as other mutual friends at LSU. Even though he went to UT, and I went to LSU, he’s from Nola and had a lot of friends at LSU who I knew as well. He actually messed with my sister for a long time by joking that he was going to take me on date, and then about two years later, we actually ended up going on that date in Nola and the rest is history! :))
How did Jonathan propose?
Jonathan told me earlier in the week of Mardi Gras that he had made dinner reservations that Friday night for my belated birthday dinner with my sister and brother-in-law, as my birthday fell on Fat Tuesday last year, and we never got to celebrate when we weren’t in costume/on Bourbon, ha! So Friday comes along, and I was actually about to have to cancel dinner as I was running so late and pretty stressed out from work that day. I didn’t have time to shower or barely get ready and was looking kinda rough. When Jonathan came to get me, I was already running about 30 minutes late. Then he tells me that he forgot his wallet at his house and we had to go get it. I told him I would just pay for it since I already made us so late, but he insisted he go back and get it.
I went in his house to help him look for his wallet and then once he found it, I was headed back out the door when he turned me around and said, “Wait – Gypsy (our dog) and I have something to ask you.” He got on one knee, and Gypsy simultaneously jumped up on his knee and then he quickly proposed! It was so perfect, and I loved that it was just us there when he did it. We popped some champs and then finally headed to dinner to meet my sister and Greg. But when we got there neither my sister or Greg were there, but instead my parents and his parents were sitting at the first table inside waiting for us! My parents had flown in from Dallas to surprise me! I cried; I was so happy (which hardly ever happens!) After dinner we went to a bar to grab a drink and there were 20 of our closest friends waiting for us when we walked in the door! It was seriously one of the best nights of my life!
First dance song
Harvest Moon – Neil Young
My cake was a 4-tiered almond flavor cake with almond buttercream icing and was decorated with beautiful cascading florals between each tier. Jonathan’s cake was a lemon flavored cake with lemon buttercream icing in the shape of the Superdome with a billboard on top of Drew Brees holding Jonathan up (instead of his child) after winning the Super Bowl. Hahaha! He clearly has an unhealthy obsession with The Saints + Drew Brees.
Most memorable moments from your wedding day
Wow, this is a tough one – the whole day was wonderful! One of my favorite moments of the day was reading the note Jonathan wrote me while everyone was still getting ready – it was so special and I’ll always have it to remember! I also loved walking down the aisle and seeing Jonathan for the first time, and exchanging our vows. Our first dance, and then second lining to The Who Dat song at the end were also some definite highlights of the day!
