No, we didn’t meet at a bar. No, we didn’t meet at a gym. We met at work… both sitting in an operating room bored out of our minds. So naturally, we talked food, exercise, and dating. I liked his happy, full of life kinda attitude, and he gave great massages (just ask anyone who works at Touro!) He liked my butt. His wasn’t so bad either. 😉 A few weeks later, I had no plans and his friend was having a birthday party. He asked if I wanted to come along, so I said yes. Sneaky guy… after “grabbing some food before we go,” he wouldn’t let me split the check. That’s when I realized, we were on a date! The ensuing awkwardness soon ended with a few cocktails and the “Wobble.” After a little fun and a lot of flirting, our night ended at my front door with a kiss on the cheek. Hey – it’s better than a handshake, right?! Needless to say, he couldn’t stop thinking about me. I let him have his kiss on our 2nd date, and then I couldn’t stop thinking about him. Fast forward through some great times and some great challenges, and here we are, about to start a new journey in life together. One could say every cliche in the book about how we came together, but I like to think that my Nana sent me a Dago – someone to be my best friend, someone to eat, dance, have fun, and enjoy life with, and someone to love unconditionally. So welcome to Our Big Fat Italian Wedding!
We took a trip to Istanbul and Siciliy last year. Both of our families are from Sicily, and we wanted to see where we came from. While in Trapani, we visited a medieval city up the mountain called Erice. He proposed as we were looking over the cliff at the ocean, and videotaped the whole thing with a setup selfie stick!

Most memorable moments from the wedding day:
For me, the overwhelming feeling of joy and love when the church doors opened and I saw Sammy waiting for me at the end of the aisle, and our exit under the streamers with everyone cheering.
For him, Everything?! Probably just being at the reception with all of his close family and friends dancing the night away. We both felt so much love and support that night. That was probably the best moment. 🙂
Our guests traveled from Kansas City, MO, Las Vegas, Virginia Beach, Philadelphia, Tennessee, Mississippi, Texas, Baton Rouge, and Florida to attend our special day.
