How did you and Eric meet?
Eric and I met during Hurricane Katrina. We both attended New Orleans area high schools during Hurricane Katrina, so we ended up at the same transition high school in Metairie after we returned to the city. We were friends for a few years before dating at the end of high school, and then we both went to LSU. We actually separated for a few years – I went to Houston for work and Eric stayed in Baton Rouge. We found our way back to each other a few years ago!
How did he propose?
Eric proposed on a pier in Pass Christian. We vacation there with his family often and one night during Memorial Day weekend we went out to dinner. He wanted to take a walk on the pier “to show me something”. He was not expecting all of the fishermen on the pier at the time. I just walked around with him, watching him while he frantically looked for a spot where he could propose without people around. After he popped the question, I turned around to see both of our families there taking pictures! He arranged quite the elaborate scheme to get our families there to witness the proposal!
Most memorable moments from your wedding day
Hers | The entire day was memorable, but my most memorable moment from the wedding day was waiting at my parent’s house to leave for the ceremony. Transportation had just arrived and it started storming. As stressful as it was to try to coordinate getting everyone into vehicles without getting soaked, it was really nice having my parents, sisters, and closest friends in one room and taking a moment before we left.
His | My favorite memory from the wedding day was looking into the crowd at the ceremony and watching Emily walk down the aisle. I could see everyone who has shown us so much love and support and has helped us grow over the years in one view while watching my beautiful bride walk down the aisle, knowing we were about to begin our lives together as one.
