How did you two meet?
Tyler and I met unofficially in high school. We hung out with similar friend groups but never officially hung out. It wasn’t until 2016 that we would actually get to know one another. I had gone on a skiing trip in January of 2016 with my family and while I was there, I ran into my high school best friend Kati. We took several photos and spent time together in the ski village. Kati later posted the photos on social media and Tyler took it upon himself to not only like the photos but add me on every social media source you could imagine. Thinking nothing of it, I accepted is requests and went back to North Carolina to finish up my masters. Fast forward about a month later, I was going for a run on Valentines day and decided to go to Tyler’s profile on Facebook and look through his photos (not sure why I thought running and photo surfing was a good idea). Well, I ended up liking a photo for 2013 from his college graduation. The best part was that I had no idea I liked it and so Tyler took it upon himself to start a conversation with me. We laughed about the accident that happened and caught up with one another over the rest of the evening. Never in my wildest dreams would a social faux pas turn into more than an embarrassing conversation and then relationship. We stayed in touch over the next few weeks and I traveled home for Easter to visit my family in Baton Rouge. Tyler then took me on our first date and I distinctly remember coming home and saying “I felt like a princess.” Before I knew it, we were in a long distance relationship between Louisiana and North Carolina and the rest is history!
How did Tyler propose?
Tyler is probably the sneakiest person I know. Tyler proposed to me on his birthday but he orchestrated the most incredible proposal. We were living in Mandeville at the time and he asked for us to spend a weekend in New Orleans to celebrate his birthday. He asked me to pick out a few bars that I wanted to go to in the French Quarter and he was adamant about eating at a fancy restaurant. So we made all our plans and headed to New Orleans for the weekend. We walked around the quarter and I distinctly remember him guiding me through a crowd to walk by St. Louis Cathedral. I thought he was acting weird but didn’t think much of it. Before I knew it we were walking down pirates alley which was decorated with flowers and a cute table and he told me he had to tell me something. I looked at him and then he was on his knee proposing. It was the best! He had me plan out our entire engagement day by claiming I was “planning his birthday.”
What are the most memorable moments from your wedding day?
Some of the most memorable moments from our wedding day had to have been when I got to see my dad for the first time, my first look with Tyler, and walking down the aisle at St. Joseph’s. There are so many wonderful ones, but those are the ones that I cherish most.
Tyler’s favorite moments were the reception getting to see everyone, and the exit with all the streamers.
