Describe your wedding in three words or less:
Classic, simple, and yummy (the food and my handsome groom!)
Color Palette:
Burgundy (both in the bridesmaids dresses and the dahlias that were featured heavily in the bouquets (MY FAVORITE) and navy (incorporated with the boys tuxes.) I love everything traditional but really wanted a pop of color, and I LOVED how it came to show in dresses and flowers. The whole scheme was exactly as I imagined when seeing pictures of the entire bridal party together.
How did you two meet?
We met through mutual friends over drinks at Mellow Mushroom while watching LSU baseball
How did Matt propose?
Matt and I went to Ralph’s on the Park for my birthday on a Friday night the day after Thanksgiving. I was waiting for a proposal when Matt whips out a ring (NOT AN ENGAGEMENT RING) and slides it across the table saying “I know this isn’t what you wanted…” and some other nonsense. I began to tear up at the restaurant and was ready to leave. On our way out, he wanted to take me to see the lights. We walked across the street and he nervously was grabbing my waist and turning me in the other direction. He then dropped down on one knee and proposed with an ACTUAL engagement ring. Our friends and family were in City Park hiding and watching as all of this happened. I think I’m still mad at the fake-out and I am pretty sure our jeweler recommended him not to do it, but he did anyway!
Cake Flavor:
My cake was a 5 tier traditional wedding cake flavor with 5 different fillings (pineapple, praline, strawberry, chocolate, and traditional almond.) Matt’s cake was devil’s food cake with chocolate fudge filling. I’m not a cake person, so beignets delivered at the end was definitely my happy place.
First Dance Song:
Whatever It Is – Zac Brown Band
Most memorable moments from the wedding day:
One of my favorite parts was just the calmness surrounding the entire day. My favorite part was being at the alter with Matt holding hands knowing that this was the next step in our future and reflecting on everything we had to look forward to.
