Stella Plantation Wedding | Taylor + Reagan

This was my first time shooting at Stella Plantation, and I instantly fell in love. The gorgeous oak trees and twinkle light reception spoke to my heart! Every little detail was thought out for Taylor and Reagan’s big day. I especially loved the Bubble Tap Trailer where you can drink all the champagne you want, AND there is an adorable photo booth inside. MoJeaux brought the party, and everyone danced their hearts out. The weather was also PERFECT, which is always a treat with this unpredictable Louisiana weather!

How did you and Reagan meet?
We were close friends in college at the University of Richmond. We both say that we were drawn to each other being that we were two of the only people we knew there from south of Virginia. Eventually, we realized that we liked each other as more than just friends, and we’ve been together ever since!

How did he propose?
I had a feeling that a proposal was happening soon, and Reagan knew that. When Reagan asked me to go on a special date night with him (I am the planner in the relationship!), I was pretty certain that he would be proposing that night. Reagan knew that I did not want him to propose at a restaurant in front of a lot of people–I wanted it to be more intimate for us. Thus, he brought me to a nice restaurant in Dallas to throw me off, and I was pretty sure that I had gotten my hopes up over nothing at that point. After dinner, we ran home “to change into casual clothes” (or so I thought) before meeting his brother for a drink. When I went to take our dog, Oreo, to the bathroom in the backyard, I walked out to find rose petals and candles lit around around our deck, as well as a photographer awkwardly sitting in the corner! I turned around, and Reagan was on one knee. Obviously, I said yes!

Describe your wedding in three words
Unique, beautiful, entertaining

Wedding color palette
Slate blue, gold, shades of green, black, and white

First dance song
“Perfect” by Ed Sheeran (we’ve loved to dance around our living room to that song since it first came out)

Favorite moments from your wedding day
Reagan surprising me with a gospel choir singing “All You Need Is Love” (inspired by my favorite movie, Love Actually) at the end of the ceremony; spending time with our bridal party and families before walking down the aisle; dancing the night away with all of our closest family and friends!

Any advice for future brides?
First, hire Lauren Carroll as your photographer! You won’t regret it. Second, make sure to speak up if you have strong feelings about something that you want or don’t want. Your vendors are there to help make your vision come to life, and the more details you can provide about what you’re envisioning, the better. However, don’t let yourself get too overwhelmed in the little details. Prioritize the things that are the most important to you and focus on that. At some point, get off Pinterest and stop following the Instagram wedding bloggers. I heard that advice a million times during the planning process and completely ignored it. However, when the day came, I did not even notice the small details that I had stressed over for so long. Not everything will go perfectly, and that’s okay! Your wedding will be the best day of your life celebrating with your favorite person, your family, and all of your closest friends. Take it all in and enjoy the process!
