I am so excited to share this featured wedding with you. First of all, I LOVE when out of state brides spend their big day in New Orleans. New Orleans is full of unique culture, amazing food, and mystery. There is truly no place like it. Melanie and Chris’s wedding had a mixture of New Orleans and Polish wedding traditions which made it exciting and unforgettable! It was an honor to document their love story.
Let’s talk about the couple!
How they met: Chris, Melanie, and Chris’s sister (Jenna) worked at the same PR firm. Melanie and Jenna were friends, and she always noticed her cute brother around the office. They finally connected at Jenna’s birthday party. Melanie initially turned Chris down, but he was determined. One date, as friends, led to the next, and the rest is history!
How he proposed: During Labor Day weekend 2012, Chris swept Melanie away to explore the grounds of George Washington estate at Mt. Vernon. As they were having lunch and wine at a nearby vineyard, Chris nervously insisted that Melanie have some dessert. Chris had picked up some Georgetown cupcakes in DC earlier. Chris dropped to one knee and opened the box with four cupcakes saying “Will you marry me?” She screamed YES! This explains why there were cupcakes at their wedding. Yum yum!
Why New Orleans? Melanie first visited New Orleans in 2011. She instantly fell in love with the city. She couldn’t help but think of Chris and their growing love for one another. She knew this would be the perfect setting for the start of the rest of their lives. With Melanie and Chris having no ties with New Orleans, their leap of faith made this wedding one to remember! Family and friends traveled down to the city to share their special day.
