Meagan + Jeff

0001

Jeff and I met during our time as undergrads at Southeastern Louisiana University. We were introduced through mutual friends, and we loved spending time together. We never even thought about dating in the first few months of our friendship, but during the summer of 2011, we were some of the few people spending the summer in Hammond, and we became practically inseparable. We finally went on our first date to eat La Caretta and to see the final Harry Potter movie, but I had no idea at first that it was actually a date! When he came by to pick me up and I saw he had dressed up and actually came knock at the front door of the sorority house, I thought that maybe this was the beginning of something different, and it was! We officially began dating August 31st, 2011 and we’ve been by each other’s side ever since.

When Jeff first decided he was going to propose, he wanted to do something extra special, so he and my mom worked together to plan the proposal. On Saturday, December 5th, 2014, we went to my parents’ house to take “family photos” with my siblings and parents for a Christmas card. While there, my mom suggested we play the game “Hedbanz.” In the game “Hedbanz,” you place a card on your headband, and everyone else can see the card but you. Everyone else then gives you hints for you to guess what you are. When it came time for me to pull a new card, my mom sneakily placed a card that said “Bride” on my headband. After 2 rounds, I was stumped, so Jeff asked if I would like a hint. I said yes, please give me a hint! So, he asked me to stand up so he could “demonstrate” the hint. Once I stood up, he got down on one knee and said, “Meagan Elizabeth St.Pierre, I love you so much babe, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?” When I turned around to face my family, they each had a card on their headband that said something special like “Father of the Bride,” “Mother of the Bride,” and “Maid of Honor.” It was so precious.

I have so many favorite memories from the day, but walking down the aisle with my Dad and exchanging vows with Jeff have to be some of my top favorites. Jeff really wanted us to write our own vows, and I am so glad we did! Jeff’s vows completely blew me away, and I don’t think there was a dry eye at the ceremony. I especially loved when he said, “You’re my Netflix on a Friday night kind of girl” because it made me giggle and smile, and that is one of the best things about Jeff-he always keeps me smiling and laughing.

Another favorite memory was my first dance with my mom. I know people don’t typically do a mother/daughter and father/daughter dance, but my mom is just so unbelievably special to me. It meant so much to me to be able to dance with her, and I’ll never forget it.

While most of our guests traveled from Louisiana and Mississippi, one of my bridesmaids and my Granny traveled all the way from Hawaii, and one of my best friends from grad school traveled all the way from Guam!
