How did you and Matt meet? We met in San Diego in 2009. I had just moved to town for grad school and Matt was working for the border patrol (he is a Massachusetts native!) We met while we were out one night at a bar in the downtown area. It’s actually pretty funny, because the friends we were with were flirting and talking and Matt and I found ourselves together. There was instant chemistry and by the end of the night, he had asked for my number. He called me the very next day and asked me on a date and we have been together ever since!
How did he propose? We took a spontaneous (or so I thought) trip to New Orleans for a weekend in July. When we got to town, we decided to grab a hurricane and walk around the quarter for a bit. Little did I know that he was secretly steering me towards Jackson Square. He led me towards one of the park benches where we sat for a while people watching and talking. He told me he had a reason for taking me to New Orleans and proceeded to get down on one knee. He popped open the ring box and asked me right there in the square. It could not have been more romantic and I could not have been more surprised!
Why New Orleans? It’s where we got engaged! Ever since we moved to Texas, New Orleans has been our favorite weekend getaway spot. We knew both of our families would have to travel for our wedding, and what better city to have everyone go?
Some of the places your guests traveled from to attend your special day: We had friends and families travel from all over: Massachusetts, California, Texas, Arizona, and Colorado!
What are some of the most memorable moments from your special day? Our first look was one of our favorites. Getting to see each other before the ceremony let us enjoy the entire experience together. The speeches by my dad, my maid of honor, and Matt’s best man were amazing! The second line at the end of the night was the perfect way to end the wedding and everyone had a blast. And of course saying “I Do!”
