I was contacted by Weddings by Lulu months ago about this fantastic New Year’s Eve wedding at Latrobe’s. I instantly got super excited about this double celebration! Ringing in the New Year with Lauren, Ryan, and their family and friends was a BLAST! The coolest part is that everyone flew here to be a part of this special day. They were the most fun group ever and were sooo fun to photograph. Here is a little about the couple.
How they met: Lauren and Ryan met at SMU. Ryan’s friends lived next door to Lauren. While only good friends at first, post college they started dating!
How Ryan proposed: Ryan proposed after a day of being out a jazz fest in New Orleans. Lauren and Ryan stayed at the W Drench Quarter often, so he asked her in the romantic court yard. It was great because they already had plenty of friends in town for the festival to celebrate with, and Ryan surprised Lauren with bringing her parents down for the proposal. Do you see the New Orleans trend yet?!
Why New Orleans? Ryan and Lauren had been lucky to have taken several trips to New Orleans (mainly for jazz fest.) They fell in love with the food, culture, and music more and more each visit. Ryan being from LA, and Lauren from KC and going to school in Dallas met people who would be traveling no matter what. They thought sharing our love for the fabulous city only made sense. Oh, and there is that amazing thing called the “second line” that was calling Lauren’s name! Their guests are still raving about the New Year’s Eve wedding celebration, and it was the coolest thing Lauren and Ryan have ever done!
