A word from the groom:
How they met: Laura and I met through mutual best friends. Her best friend from high school married my best friend from high school and they introduced us when Laura moved back to New Orleans from New York.
How Sean proposed: I planned a long weekend at the beach. I picked the ring up from my dad before we hit the road, we drove down to Destin, FL on a Thursday night after work. I had already spoken with her parents and was equally nervous and excited to pop the question. Every time we go to the beach, Laura loves going for walks so I was just planning on letting her walk into my little trap and when she asked if I wanted to go for a walk I was going to pop the question right down there in the sand. But, as luck would have it, when we got to the condo I poured us both a glass of wine and we walked out onto the balcony and to my absolute horror there were about a million kids and families running around with flashlights looking for crabs in the surf and I knew this was not the atmosphere I wanted. Soooo I finished my glass and decided there was no better time than the present and went inside to get the ring. When I walked out Laura was relaxing in a chair so I got down on one knee beside her and leaned over to give her a kiss as I attempted to get the ring out of my pocket. No one ever tells you that pulling anything out of your pockets while down on one knee is easy so there was a longer-than-usual/semi-awkward kiss while I had a minor panic attack trying to get the ring out of my pocket. Finally with the little jewelry box in hand (and weird distraction kiss completed) I asked her if she would make me the happiest man in the world and be my wife!!! She smiled the most beautiful smile and said yes… at least that’s how I remember it!!!
Most memorable moments from the wedding day: The wedding day is just like everyone tells you it’s going to be. Amazing. Beautiful. Gone in the blink of an eye. I’ll never forget turning around and seeing Laura standing on the balcony in her dress for the first time, she was the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. Standing at the altar for the ceremony was one of the most surreal moments in my life, it felt amazing to finally be marrying the woman of my dreams. Going up to the suite after the ceremony and getting to spend a few minutes alone before the reception was also something I’ll cherish forever. The reception was so much fun and it was humbling to be on the receiving end of so much love and support from our family and friends. Lastly, I think one of the things I’ll remember most was right after we cut the cake, Laura and I got to sit down and eat and have a glass of champagne. It was only a few minutes but it was really one of the happiest moments of my life.
