How did you and Chase meet? Chase and I met at Blues and BBQ in downtown Hammond. A group of he and his friends invited my friend Andilyn and I to Mariner’s later that day. She and I ended up staying until Mariners closed. Within the next week, we were friends on Facebook and kept running into each other in town and at La Caretta. Over time we began to hang out in groups, then stared going places just the two of us. One of our favorite places to go was Chimes for the charbroiled oysters, we went almost weekly for a while. After that summer we went from friends to dating in September 2012, the rest is history! ;)
How did he propose? Chase proposed on the Oasis of The Seas cruise ship with my family. I had a feeling that he would propose on the trip however, as we neared the end of the cruise I started to think that I was wrong. Thursday, we spent the whole day in St. Martin exploring and soaking up sun, it was our last stop of the wonderful trip. Chase told me that he had a special dinner planned for just the two of us, he said he wanted to do something nice for me bringing him on the trip. I thought this seemed a little odd, only because he did it on our last formal night, when the normal dining room has better food. When I was getting ready, it crossed my mind that he could be up to something. We went to the main promenade deck because I wanted to take pictures. Little did I know, the ring was in his pocket and he was very nervous that I would feel the box when we were close for pictures. After pictures, we went to the rising tide bar that brought us up to the restaurant Chops Grille in the garden area. We sat at one of the tables outside in the garden area with beautiful lighting from candles, string lights, and the moonlit sky. It was a little hot so I didn’t think too much about Chase sweating, I figured if I was hot he must be burning up. I had the odd feeling that I was being watched during dinner, little did I know that I was. My parents, brother, uncle Chris, cousin Hannah, and her boyfriend Gregg were all watching from many decks above. Chase had planned with the restaurant where they would seat me, so that my family could see me, but I couldn’t see them. As dinner went on, I was nervous but I started to think that I was wrong because dinner was almost over. Then my dessert came out, Crème Brulee on fire of course; out of the corner of my eye I noticed Chase start to move. I knew instantly that I was correct, he was proposing! Even though I had my suspicions, I was still shocked when he said “I have one more surprise for you babe” and dropped to one knee. After, we all went to the Champagne Bar to celebrate and enjoy the night as a newly engaged couple. Chase knew how much it meant to me to have my family be a part of that night, as we are all very close. It was an amazing night.
Most memorable moments of the day? The morning of the wedding, my mom and I went to The Broken Egg Café early, before everyone else was awake. I gave her a monogrammed handkerchief and a Tiffany necklace for her to always remember the special day. We relaxed and ate before starting out the full day of getting ready with the bridesmaids. It was nice to have some quiet time before the wedding festivities began.
The bridesmaids, mom, my friend Agos, flower girls, and I all got ready at Marvilla House, one block away from the Lakehouse. We were all relaxing outside on the beachy porch taking turns on hair and makeup. The weather went from beautiful to dark and started hailing instantly! The wind picked up and we saw it start to whip around, I was sure it was a tornado! We all ended up running down the stairs and squeezing into a small closet for shelter. It was a very eventful hour! After everything cleared and we assessed the grounds, we had to move on with our day of getting ready. I know that rain on your wedding day is said to be good luck, so hail and a tornado must mean that Chase and I will be together forever! It will always be a great story to tell.
Another memory that I have of our wedding day is when the flower girls first saw me in my dress, the look on their faces was priceless as they said WOW that’s a pretty dress.
My friend Agos, carrying the train of my dress is also a special memory.
Chase and I loved walking under the sparklers when we left the wedding, what an awesome send off!
