“I first met Jill almost exactly 4 years ago today. We were both in Iceland for the Iceland Airwaves music festival. We met on a friday night and I was immediately struck by how beautiful, fun and easy to talk to Jill was. So much so that as we were in the middle of a great conversation I had a sudden realization, I’d left the bag containing my passport at the concert hall I’d been at just before meeting Jill. I was faced with a tough decision, do I run out on this amazing girl I’d just met and go looking for my missing passport or enjoy the evening and deal with that later. They say you don’t always make the best decisions after a few drinks but standing here I know I couldn’t have done anything better that night. As a nice bonus I only spent 24 hours wondering how I was going to get home before I got a phone call that my missing bag and passport had been found.
A few days after we returned from Iceland Jill & I went out on our first date. Like many of our dates since we went to a nice restaurant, ordered as many dishes as we possibly could and shared everything. It was then I learned how much I shared with Jill, a love of food, a love of travel, a love of music and I even discovered I’d somehow met a girl that loved soccer and cheered for the same team as me, Liverpool. From that moment onwards I knew I wanted to be with Jill, and four years later, I’m the luckiest and the happiest guy in the world to be marrying Jill today.” – Andrew
Andrew and I were in Vietnam in November 2014. On our last night in Ho Chi Minh City, Andrew suggested we go for a nice dinner at May Restaurant. We had a yummy dinner and at the end of the meal, Andrew asked me if there was anything else I wanted to do while we were in Vietnam. I said no, that I was having an amazing time and asked if he wanted to do anything else. Andrew said why don’t we get engaged and pulled out a ring. I was totally surprised and didn’t say much initially so Andrew suggested I try on the ring. We laughed later that we were both so caught up in the moment that we didn’t realize that he actually didn’t ‘ask’ me to marry him! Haha!
